Organization

The Bridge City Independent School District is organized and operated under the provisions of the Laws of the State of Texas. It is the responsibility of the school administration to operate the school programs according to the laws of the State of Texas within the policies of the local School Board.

The school year consists of 177 instructional days, and teachers are under contract for 187 days which includes 10 staff development days.

Financial

THE BRIDGE CITY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL LOWER TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY ($347.50).

The budget for the 2007-2008 school year is $17,399,863 and the tax rate is $1.22. All property in the district is assessed at 100% of appraised market value.

The District Tax Rate is divided into two parts.

General Operating Fund = $1.04
Interest and Sinking Fund = .18

The District employs approximately 400 employees in all areas of operation.
The District has approximately 2500 students

Physical Plant

The Bridge City Independent School District has five school campuses and a vehicle maintenance and storage facility. The total area of the School District is 63.92 square miles.

A total of approximately 1000 tons of air-conditioning capacity is used to climatize the instructional facilities on all five campuses.

Sims Elementary has a campus area of approximately 14.3 acres on Roberts Avenue.
Hatton Elementary is located on approximately 19.8 acres on Roundbunch Road.
Bridge City Intermediate is located on approxmiately 12.921 acres on Roundbunch Road.
Bridge City Middle School has a campus area of approximately 15 acres on Bower Drive.
Bridge City High School has a campus area of approximately 31.8 acres on Texas Avenue.
