The Bridge City MS Honors Band participated in the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Evaluation on Wednesday, March 31st at Groves MS. They worked for about 6 weeks on three prepared pieces of music selected from the UIL Texas Prescribed Music List. A panel of judges from around the state uses a detailed rubric to assess the musical ability of our students. They truly rose to the occasion and a rough school year to earn their 1st Division Superior Rating.
The next step was continuing to the Sight-Reading portion of the contest. The students and director have 8 minutes to learn and perform a completely new piece of music. A different panel of judges with a new rubric determine the outcome of the performance. The students earned another 1st Division rating in Sight-Reading!
In total, the band earned a SWEEPSTAKES trophy for their outstanding performance with rave reviews from the judges. They looked fantastic in their black and white dress clothes and we are so proud of them! Congratulations to the Honors Band!
