Drug Reporting
You must read this disclaimer carefully before submitting a report.
In an effort to ensure a safe and productive campus environment, BCHS is offering cash rewards for information directly resulting in a drug conviction. Here are some things to consider when making a report:
1. The person making the report will have his or her information kept completely confidential.
2. The reward will be given privately. No one needs to know who made the report or received the reward.
3. Abuse of the system (intentionally reporting students who do not have drugs) will result in serious consequences. Please read the FALSE REPORT WARNING before making a report.
4. In order to collect the reward, you must include information in the report which allows us to know who you are. Once again, protecting your identity will remain our priority.

Download the Random Drug Testing Procedures Manual
OVERVIEW:
Bridge City ISD conducts initial and random student drug testing in partnership with an independent, certified drug testing vendor. The district’s designated contact provides the vendor with a list of all eligible students in grades 7–12. From this list, the vendor randomly selects the prescribed number of students for testing at regular intervals.
Students who participate in extracurricular, UIL, or athletic activities and/or drive or park a vehicle on campus are subject to random drug testing under this program.
The vendor will:
- Send qualified collectors to the campus to oversee specimen collection in accordance with this procedure.
- Provide Medical Review Officer (MRO) services for interpreting and verifying all results.
- Report verified results confidentially to the Superintendent or designee.
All specimens are collected as split samples. If a test result is positive:
- The student will serve a suspension as outlined in the sanctions section.
- The student must, at the expense of the student’s parent/guardian or other responsible adult, successfully complete an approved drug education and/or counseling program. A letter from the program director will be required as proof of completion and attendance.
- If the parent/guardian requests retesting of the split specimen, they may select a laboratory from a district-approved list. The cost of retesting must be paid in advance by the parent/guardian.
- The student must also submit to follow-up testing at the family’s expense and receive negative results on all required tests before resuming extracurricular participation or driving privileges:
- Three follow-up tests during the suspension period for a first offense (60 days).
- A minimum of six follow-up tests during the suspension period for a second offense (calendar year).
Program Goals
- Maintain student safety and a drug-free school environment.
- Provide students an additional reason to say “NO” to drugs and alcohol.
- Deter drug use among students in grades 7–12.
- Reduce the risk of injuries related to drug or alcohol use.
- Ensure students who test positive participate in approved counseling and/or drug education programs.
